Las Áñez (Valentina and Juanita Áñez Rothmann ) -Performing as a quintet- is led by twin sisters from Bogotá who compose original songs deeply rooted in the folk music of Colombia and perform them in a polished and unique way. Their trademark style combines tight vocals with unusual instrumental accompaniments, which can range from gaming soundtrack sounds to acoustic pianos and disembodied vocals. 

They have charmed audiences in Latin America and Europe because of their spontaneity, versatility, and for their dedication to mixing folklore with contemporary music. They have released four award-winning albums on which they have collaborated with iconic Colombian rock singer Andrea Echeverri (Aterciopelados), and Grammy winner Marta Gómez, among others. They have received numerous awards for their songs and videos in Colombia and Europe. 

Their music has been used in films in Colombia and they participated in the soundtrack of the Netflix series One Hundred Years of Solitude and the Amazon series La Liberación. In their songwriting, Las Áñez are deeply reflexive, playfully poetic and meticulously tight, as well as connected to traditional music. The songs on their 2020 album Reflexión address time, religion, emotions, and music itself through clever, witty fables delivered primarily through the simplicity of two female voices. Their careful arrangements and characteristically minimal production and instrumentation draw listeners into a world of traditional storytelling, tricks, and games. The sisters studied jazz vocals at Universidad Javeriana and participated in several student ensembles. In 2010 they founded Bituin, a quartet dedicated to experimental Latin American music with another pair of siblings, Santiago and Daniel de Mendoza and they released their debut album a year later. Juanita and Valentina launched their solo project to develop original repertoire in 2014. 

Their embrace of avant-garde music was quickly recognized within the Latin American musical world, garnering endorsements from stars such as Julieta Venegas and Kevin Johansen. They have performed in leading festivals and stages in Colombia, Uruguay, Germany, and Estonia.

Latin Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Rogê is one of Brazil’s most vibrant contemporary voices, blending samba, soul, funk, and MPB into a warm, groove-driven sound. Born in Rio de Janeiro and now based in Los Angeles, he has built a growing international audience through dynamic touring across North America and Europe.

His recent albums Curyman (2023) and Curyman II (2024), featuring legendary arranger Arthur Verocai, mark a defining new chapter in his career. In 2026, Rogê continues touring Curyman II, joins Verocai for special performances, appears at the Greek Theatre with Thee Sacred Souls, and performs at Grand Performances after receiving the City of Los Angeles COLA Artist Fellowship.

Known for his joyful, high-energy shows and soulful voice, Rogê carries the spirit of Brazilian music to audiences worldwide.

The Reality Check Experiment is a rising four-piece improvisational jam band based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Heavily inspired by psychedelic and progressive rock icons like Phish and the Grateful Dead, they are widely recognized for their high-energy, free-form groove improvisation and DIY ethos. They operate their own production venue in Philly called The Zapp Factory, where they record, mix, and broadcast their weekly live "Zapp Tests"

THESAURUS REX is a Brooklyn-based conceptual indie rock band formed by songwriter, singer, and improv comic Calvin Rezen. Their music pairs sharp, lyric-heavy songwriting with guitar-driven indie and garage rock, humor, theatricality, and an offbeat performance sensibility. Emerging from New York’s independent club scene, the band has performed at venues including The Sultan Room, Our Wicked Lady, Mercury Lounge, and Brooklyn Made. Their 2025 debut album, Greatest Hits., showcases a knack for catchy, energetic songs filled with wit, storytelling, and self-deprecation.

At the center of Montreal’s Elephant Stone is Rishi Dhir, a songwriter and sitarist who has spent twenty years blurring the lines between Western psych-pop and Indian classical tradition. What began in 2006 as a quest for transcendental sound has evolved into a singular, self-contained vision. Operating out of his Montreal home studio, Sacred Sound, Dhir has emerged as a true studio auteur—producing, engineering, and mixing the band’s increasingly complex and cinematic output.

While the band’s reputation was built on airtight pop craftsmanship and spiritual exploration, their recent work—anchored by longtime members Miles Dupire, Robbie MacArthur, and Jason Kent—possesses a new, raw intensity. It is a sound forged through Dhir’s deep collaborative history with icons like The Black Angels, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and Beck, as well as his role in the psych-supergroup MIEN.

With a discography spanning 10 acclaimed releases, Elephant Stone remains at the forefront of the modern movement, constantly deconstructing the past to find something visceral, haunting, and undeniably human in the present.

Pink Breath of Heaven is a reverie of shimmering guitars, haunting melodies, and introspective lyricism. The project of Liv Field and Rex John Shelverton, the two share a strong commitment to the feeling of a song, where it takes you, and the delicate art of using music and songwriting to create a living atmosphere.
Following the release of their first single, “Blue Is the Morning,” the band quickly began to draw wider attention, leading to their addition to Little Cloud Records ahead of their debut album.
Over the following year, Pink Breath of Heaven continued shaping a sound that is distinctly their own, immersive and transportive, pulling the listener into the moment and somewhere beyond it.
With performances alongside The Dandy Warhols, LSD and the Search for God, Alison’s Halo, Ty Segall, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Pink Breath of Heaven has become a compelling force within San Francisco’s underground.
In late 2025, shortly after the release of their debut album Colors Make a Sound, the band signed with Westward, an independent LA-based label with distribution through Warner ADA, establishing momentum for the next wave of releases.

SHOW POSTPONED

We’re very sorry to announce that Gyedu-Blay Ambolley’s September 15 performance at Manny’s has been postponed due to delays with visa processing.

Gyedu and his band are postponing their U.S. tour until April 2027, and we are working toward a new date at Manny’s as part of that tour.

We know many of you were looking forward to this performance, and we share your disappointment. A tremendous amount of work goes into bringing international artists to Central PA, and unfortunately visa delays can sometimes affect these tours even after many months of planning.

We look forward to welcoming Gyedu-Blay Ambolley to State College in 2027 and will share the new date as soon as it is confirmed.

Sababa 5 are a Paris-based band known for their hypnotic blend of Middle Eastern psychedelia, Mediterranean funk, and analog groove. Their sound fuses swirling organs, surf guitars, and irresistible rhythms into a style that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking — rooted in vintage tones, but always evolving.

After gaining global attention with the single “Tokyo Midnight / Nasnusa,” featuring Japanese singer Yurika, the band continued to explore new directions through collaborations and live performances across Europe. Their self-titled debut album and follow-up, Aspan, deepened their signature sound: a rich instrumental fusion of funk, disco, and Eastern melodies.

In recent years, Sababa 5 have expanded their palette through projects with vocalists including Shiran Tzfira, Inbal Nur Dekel, Yurika Hanashima, Canay Doğan, and Sophia Solomon, balancing analog depth with cross-cultural energy.

Known for their captivating live shows, Sababa 5 bring an immersive experience that blends groove, improvisation, and vibrant sonic textures, connecting with audiences across Europe and beyond.

In 2025, they unveiled Nadir, their fourth and most ambitious album to date. Marking a new creative high, Nadir dives deeper into emotion, texture, and groove — the sound of a band unafraid to move forward. This journey continues into early 2026 with the release of their fifth album, Ca Va Ca Va, embracing a celebratory Hafla sound — a Middle Eastern party spirit — fully supported by an extensive European tour.

Following extensive U.S. and European touring, Keim has built a reputation for captivating live performances, including appearances at SXSW and sharing the stage with Peter Case (The Nerves/Plimsouls), Calvin Johnson (Beat Happening/K Records), and Matt Costa. Hailing from Yellow Springs, OH, Gardener is a close-knit group of old friends. Their music paints vivid sonic landscapes, blending raw Americana with dreamy, country-tinged indie rock. Inspired by the decay and beauty of their home in Ohio’s Rust Belt, Gardener's songs embody both raw, volatile energy and intimate, meditative moments – creating a distinct sound that's entirely their own. Their most recent full-length was produced by Taylor Meier of CAAMP.

Strongly inspired by Romani brass "orkestars" and Eastern European fanfares, their core repertoire covers traditional Macedonian, Bulgarian, and Serbian folk melodies alongside deep Philadelphia-rooted klezmer

Bring your tarot deck, oracle cards, astrology books, or any mystical accouterments you've collected along the way. Whether you've been reading for years or you're tarot-curious, there's a place for you here. If you know your way around a deck, bring your knowledge and help someone learn. If you're brand new, come ask questions, pull some cards, and see what happens.

The ambient open mic runs all night, so BYO synth, guitar, pedals, field recordings, poetry, drone, singing bowls, hand drums, cassette tapes, weird electronics, found sounds, homemade instruments, or any sonic experiment living in your closet.

Blacks’ Myths is a band founded by composer and bassist Luke Stewart with drummer Warren "Trae" Crudup, and has since developed into a sonic research and performance project concerned with the idea of History, of Memory, of the power of creating a tuned state of being. The journey through Sound lies the meditation on the history of blackness, the personal memory lens of an increasingly complex world full of alternate facts and rehashed stories. History thus becomes Mythology, in the ways in which we experience its weighty meanings in our lives. Through accessing the power of Sound, the story unfolds in physical frequencies that can re-tune the sub-conscious being otherwise known as the Spirit. The specific historical themes come from lived experience, stories told.

Bark Culture is a Philadelphia-based trio led by vibraphonist Victor Vieira-Branco, featuring Joey Sullivan on drums and John Moran on bass. The band is touring their new record The Giant is Awkward set for release on June 5th, 2026.

The Giant is Awkward is the second album by vibraphonist and composer Victor Vieira-Branco’s Bark Culture. The ensemble—featuring John Moran (double bass) and Joey Sullivan (drums)—is joined by pianist and composer Sam Yulsman for five pieces that mirror the prismatic nature of a sound Vieira-Branco has been tirelessly crafting with the group since 2021. With the addition of Yulsman, the group reveals, as Peter Margasak states, “a heightened sensitivity and grace, with increased harmonic splendor thanks to the added chordal voice. The record also marks the vibraphonist’s clear growth as a composer.”

The band’s 2024 debut, Warm Wisdom, received high praise, with New York Times jazz critic Hank Shteamer listing it among his top debuts of 2024, as well as landing a spot on Bandcamp’s Best of Jazz for September 2024. Since then, Vieira-Branco has joined Rob Mazurek’s Exploding Star Orchestra and the Chad Taylor Quintet, the former of which released the album Smokeshifter, featuring three pieces penned by the vibraphonist. The core trio of Bark Culture was also heavily involved in Rob Mazurek’s score for Kelly Reichardt’s 2025 film The Mastermind.

Dawn Drake & ZapOte is a female “Global Groove” ensemble which celebrates women in world music and incorporates Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms, pop and funk into a mix that is meant for dancing!  With original lyrics that focus on love, empathy, environmental and social justice themes, the band offers a chance to celebrate life and create community through shared experience. A genre bender, ZapOte has a unique sound based on Dawn’s musical influences which draw from Cuban salsa and timba, Haitian kompa as well as Congolese ndombolo and Nigerian Afro-beat. You’ll find some of New York’s finest female musicians playing in this band!
