MIRAMAR IS A RICHMOND, VA-BASED GROUP REIMAGINING THE LATIN BOLERO THROUGH THE LENS OF PSYCHEDELIC ROCK, BOSSA NOVA, FUNK, AND JAZZ. ANCHORED BY THE POWERFUL VOCAL DUO OF REI ÁLVAREZ AND LAURA ANN SINGH, THEIR HARMONIES ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR GRACE AND PRECISION. THE BAND IS LED BY MARLYSSE SIMMONS-ARGANDOÑA ON PIANO AND ORGAN, WITH ÁLVAREZ AND SIMMONS-ARGANDOÑA ALSO KNOWN FOR THEIR WORK IN CULT SALSA BAND BIO RITMO.

WHILE A TRIO FORMS THE CORE, MIRAMAR OFTEN EXPANDS TO A FULL BAND AND COLLABORATES WITH STRING QUARTETS AND SYMPHONIES, BRINGING LUSH, ORCHESTRAL TEXTURES TO THEIR SOUND. THEIR MUSIC PAYS HOMAGE TO THE BOLERO—AN EMOTIVE GENRE BORN IN 19TH-CENTURY CUBA—WHILE BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO IT WITH ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS AND GLOBAL INFLUENCES.

MIRAMAR HAS EARNED ACCLAIM FOR THEIR DEEPLY MOVING LIVE SHOWS AND HIGH-PROFILE PERFORMANCES, INCLUDING NPR'S TINY DESK, GLOBALFEST, LINCOLN CENTER, THE KENNEDY CENTER, AND TOURS AS FAR AS RUSSIA WITH SUPPORT FROM THE U.S. EMBASSY. THEY'VE RELEASED MUSIC ON BARBÈS, DAPTONE, AND ANSONIA RECORDS, WITH THEIR LATEST ALBUM ENTRE TUS FLORES DRAWING PRAISE FROM INTERNATIONAL OUTLETS LIKE STAF MAGAZINE AND LIRA MAGAZINE.

The Wild Shoats:

Rare State College appearance of an absolute favorite!

Rooted in Appalachian old-time fiddling, folk songs, and the high-lonesome, The Wild Shoats draw on their collective background to reimagine the songs and sounds of their home.
